What
A
DAY!
Okay, so, I go into work an hour and a half early, and stay an hour and a half past my time to leave.
First thing I have to bake 18 chickens for some group of people we're catering. That's a lot of chicken.
So, I turn on the fryer, cos, it being the deep south, we deep fry a lot.
I'm getting the rotisserie chickens ready to go into their oven and look over at the fryer.
FLAMES!!!!
So, I get a large pan and cover it, then turn the fryer off. No problem. It took a few minutes to go out, but it did, once deprived of oxygen.
So, wait another half hour or so, to let it cool down and clean up the sooty, burned on cooking oil.
Empty out the sooty, burned-on cooking oil, clean the vat and elements. Add new oil.
Turn it back on.
It doesn't.
Flip the breaker and hit the reset.
Nothing.
Get 37 men to come back and look at it and ask if I'd flipped the breakers and hit the reset.
Duh, yeah! I may be a female, but I've had more experience with fryers than you have, dudes.
So, while 'everyone' tells me, "Oh yeah, everyone's done that at least once, but no-one's ever actually killed it!" I'm laughing on the inside.
And now, off to the bowling alley again, because Mom's truck is ailing.
sigh
