It's over.
Well all except getting the power turned back on, and water, and cable, and internet.
Posting from my friend's house, we haven't had a/c or a shower, or done any dishes since Wednesday.
I offend myself. This is why I'm at Liz's house, to take a long hot bath, wash my hair and SHAVE my legs!
Luckily we have a propane stove, so cooking wasn't a big deal.
One of the people who stopped over for the duration was a friend of my niece Jennifer and her husband. He was born, a lot more years ago than he'll tell, 500 yards from the mouth of the Mississippi River, on a houseboat.
I'd never met a real Cajun before. Jean-Pierre Anton le Jacques Patellier. A really long name for such a short guy. The accent just slayed me. He was a very dapper little man, extremely neat, even crisp, white goatee. Head shaved bald, tattoos galore, and de stories! If he weren't so old, and short (shorter than even me!) there might have been sumpin dere, you know wha I talkin bout, eh ya!
Thankfully their power was turned back on today, so they all left, after devouring the ribs I cooked all day long, taking the leftovers with them.
On the drive down here (Liz's house) we saw lots of trees across power lines, it's gonna be a while before I get back, I'm afraid. :(
