exactly what does one do when 4 children under the age of 4 and 9 extremely diverse 'adults' are enforceably sequestered in a 3 bedroom 2 bath house during a hurricane?
Try not to kill one another.
It all started out great, but after 2 days, whew!
Children who have a very small area to play, are not allowed to go outside for an extended period of time and can't have a popsicle on an hourly basis are not fun to be around!
Adults who have a very small area to play, are not allowed outside and can't have a drink on an hourly basis are also not fun.
The heat was the worst part of it. Water we had, in the form of my untreated-as-of-yet waterbed filling. We never had to use any of it, thank goodness!
It was coolness, a COLD drink, a popsicle, (called 'greens' in this family, long story for later) a precious ice cube....
Cold looks we had a lot of by the end of the 4 days. They just don't help to cool you off.
The bathtub full of water helped somewhat, but you can only dunk kids into it so many times before it starts getting funky.
So, you make up games. Find the big sister, play naps, sing songs you thought you'd forgotten.
Make cookies.
Lots.of.cookies.
Overall it's an experience I don't want to have to go through again, ever.
The storm was the good part of it.
